Most likely, by now you have had your first medical ultrasound scan in order to see how far along your pregnancy you are. Wouldn’t you agree, there is nothing quite like seeing that little heart beat?! Perhaps you may even be very curious as to whether you are having a boy or a girl. This is the reason we are offering a gender determination scan in which we will answer this very important question for you.
Reliability and gender determination period
Our ultrasound centre offers various different non-medical, private ultrasound scans of which the first one is already possible from approximately 7 weeks on. However, you will need to be slightly further along to see whether you are expecting a boy or a girl. Even though some centres offer this scan from 13 weeks, we have consciously opted for gender determination scans to be conducted from 15 weeks onward. At this point we can ensure an accurate result as the baby’s external sex organs will have developed sufficiently. It should be noted that there is no 100% certainty until your baby is actually born as there will always be a small error margin. Please be aware, that there is always a slight chance the gender will not be detected during this ultrasound as we may face an unfavourable foetal position. Our sonographers will always do their very best to realise a successful gender determination scan.
The gender determining ultrasound: how does it work?
You will visit one of our centres for this ultrasound, where you will be able to enjoy a calm and relaxed atmosphere. This ultrasound is purely focussed on determining your baby’s gender. Naturally, we will also be able to listen to your baby’s beating heart and take a photograph of him or her at this very nice stage of your pregnancy.
Costs for gender determination
We only charge € 40.00 (incl. VAT) for the gender determination ultrasound. The packages on offer may be more cost effective if you already know you’d like several non-medical ultrasounds throughout your pregnancy. For example, you can save € 20,- if you book a gender determination ultrasound and a 3D/4D ultrasound at the same time. For more information, please take a look at our ‘private packages’.
The gender determination ultrasound is in 2D and will take approximately 15 minutes.
- You will be given 4 black/white photos of your baby at the end of your session.
- You will be given a gender balloon containing either pink or blue confetti which are great fun for the gender reveal party.
- You will be given a card with details of your baby’s gender. If you’re not quite ready to find out yet, you can request to receive the answer in an envelope instead.
- Furthermore we offer to receive the images on a USB stick for an additional € 3.50.
